There were some pretty rough months for me during the “slow sports season” this year. Picture this: the NFL isn’t on, it’s the boring months of NBA/NHL seasons, and it’s offseason in Baseball. My commute to work was filled with a lot of Toronto Sports Talk and all they would talk about day after day was whether or not the Blue Jays and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. would be able to come to an agreement to keep him in a Jays uniform after this season. All signs were consistently pointing towards “No” as the two parties seemed too far apart in terms of what $ number they each felt was fair.

Fast forward to the present; let’s go ahead and throw everything we thought we knew out the window because the two parties have agreed on a huge 14 year – $500 million (USD) extension for Vladdy.

For my sake, and the sheer amount of time I had to spend listening to this discussion, I’m glad they got it done. Do I love the number? Not really. Am I okay with it? Yes. Vladdy is a really good player and he was literally the Jays’ only bright spot last year as his numbers were still very good in an otherwise embarrassing season for the organization.

The team has started 5-5 in the year and there is still hope for the team going forward. Maybe this will provide a big spark for the guys in the locker room and send them on a tear for the playoffs. We’ll see.

I will post more on this as more news comes out about the deal, as well as more consistent coverage on my end about the MLB and some of the best daily bets.

I had a friend tell me on Friday night that he was going to parlay the White Sox to lose with the Dodgers to win every single time the teams play on the same night this season. He figures the White Sox will only win about 40 games max and the Dodgers will only lose about 40. What do we think about this bet? I kinda like it tbh. I guess we’ll see!
